ABOUT THE CLASS:
The Spilled Milk class is a look through the history of lactation in the Americas and why we currently rank lowest in the engagement of the developed nations. We'll discuss the physiological imprint left from the commodification of bodies during the era of African enslavement in the Americas. We aim to embrace this biological function in solidarity and as a tool to embrace the nuanced intuition of parenthood. During class we'll discuss the following:
Propaganda
Body Autonomy
Patriarchy
Cultural Significance
This class is designed to celebrate the power of lactation as an organic and sustainable practice. Also, this information is to provide context to the American lactation culture.
